Roles and Responsibilities of a Personal Care Worker

A PCW (personal care worker) is a caregiver who works alongside registered nurses,
enrolled nurses and management to provide care and treatment to residents.
A PCW who works in a residential aged care home would be expected
to carry out the following:

Assist with ADLs (Activities of Daily Living)
Help the registered and enrolled nurses with clinical care
If medication competent, administer medications
Complete meal rounds and assist residents with eating and drinking
Providing emotional support to both residents and their families
Monitor behaviours of their residents and notice any changes in character

Our PCWs work around the clock, filling shifts in the AM, PM and at night. We have
