Home Care Jobs in Wollongong FAQs

The role of a home care worker is to provide care and support to clients within their own home to remain independent for as long as they wish to do so. Duties and responsibilities of home care workers include: 

Home care support worker 

This is a home care role that is responsible for the day to day care of the client. They would typically be involved in: 

  • Assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) 
  • Providing emotional support and a holistic approach to care
  • Escorting to appointments, both medical and otherwise
  • Making sure the home environment is as comfortable as possible. 

Registered Nurse 

These are individuals that have acquired a three year undergraduate degree, a Bachelor of Nursing (BoN) and are registered healthcare professionals. A home care registered nurse is responsible for: 

  • Administering medications
  • The care planning and documentation to ensure top quality care is delivered
  • Complex pain management and offering solutions
  • Wound care and changing dressings
  • Monitoring vital signs

We are looking for casual home care support workers in the following locations: 

We are recruiting for home care roles on a temporary/casual basis. This is ad-hoc/flexible work than can be filled last minute, to cover gaps in a roster, and to fulfill shortages due to annual leave and sick leave.

To be placed in a home care role with Sanctuary, you need to have obtained the following qualifications: 

  • A support worker will require a Cert III in Individual Support or equivalent .
  • A registered nurse will need a Bachelor of Nursing degree and an in date AHPRA registration.
