Home care jobs in Sydney FAQs

The role of a home care worker is to provide care and support to individuals within their own home to remain independent for as long as possible. Day to day care will vary depending on your role: 

Home care support worker 

This is an entry level role that is responsible for the following tasks: 

  • Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) 
  • Providing emotional support 
  • Transporting to medical appointments 
  • Cleaning and tidying the home 

Registered nurse 

These are individuals that have acquired a Bachelor of Nursing (BoN) and are registered medical professionals. A home care registered nurse will: 

  • Administer medication 
  • Be involved in care planning and documentation 
  • Complex pain management 
  • Wound care 
  • Monitoring vital signs

We are recruiting for home care roles on a temporary/casual basis. This is ad-hoc/flexible work than can be filled last minute, to cover gaps in a roster, annual and sick leave.

To be placed in a home care role with Sanctuary, you would need the following qualifications: 

  • Support worker: Cert III in Individual Support or equivalent 
  • Registered nurse: Bachelor of Nursing degree and an AHPRA registration
