Home care jobs in Newcastle FAQs

The role of a home care worker is ensure that those receiving home care services are able to remain in their homes for longer, living independent lives. Those working in home care can expect to carry out tasks to fulfill their clients needs and requirements.

Home care support worker 

Home care support workers manage the day to day activities that the clients need assistance in, such as: 

  • Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)
  • Understanding the clients, and their families, on an emotional level and provide a listening ear
  • Travelling to and from medical appointments
  • Adhering to any requests from the client that is in line with the services outlined in their Home Care Package

Registered nurse 

These are qualified healthcare professionals that have obtained a Bachelor of Nursing (BoN) undergraduate degree and are registered with AHPRA. A home care registered nurse is responsible for:
 

  • Administering medications in line with the clients care plan
  • Care planning and all documentation to monitor the client
  • Complex pain management and assessing situations for solutions
  • Wound care
  • Monitoring vital signs

We are looking for home care support workers and registered nurses in the following locations: 

We are recruiting for home care roles on a casual basis. This is flexible work than can be filled last minute or on an ad-hoc basis, to cover gaps in a roster, and to fulfill shortages due to annual leave and sick leave.

To be placed in a home care role with Sanctuary, you need to have obtained the following qualifications: 

  • A support worker will require a Cert III in Individual Support or equivalent.
  • A registered nurse will need a Bachelor of Nursing degree and a current AHPRA registration.
