Enrolled Nurse in Newcastle FAQs

Enrolled nurses are part of the healthcare sector, and are clinical professionals who provide direct care to those in need. Enrolled nurses sit under registered nurses in terms of scope of practice and duties & responsibilities.

Enrolled nurses in aged care can, like most people, enter the industry through an entry level role such as an Assistant in nursing/personal care worker and then upskill. Some complete the relevant course and go straight into this position.

Our enrolled nursing roles are far and wide across the country. Through our longstanding connections, we have relationships with homes in metro, regional, rural and remote areas of the country.

Reach out today if you are looking for a role in Newcastle, or in another area of NSW such as:

  • Central Coast
  • Hawkesbury
  • Illawarra and Wollongong
  • Sydney and surroundings

Pay rates are determined by the Aged Care and Nurses Award. There are a lot of factors that make up a pay band, a few being your experience level, location of work, job title and work environment. The average enrolled nurse casual pay rates are in-between $31 - $76 per hour.

For short term contract assignments across the Australia, we offer bonuses, incentives and allowances that vary on the placement. The aged care industry is evolving, with the aged care reform roadmap leading to a pay rise for the aged care sector in recent years, with further developments to come.

For our enrolled nurses, we ask for a minimum of 6 months Australian aged care experience to be enrolled in our casual nursing pool. Contact us today if you don't meet this, as some of our clients accept newly grads.

Enrolled Nurses are required to have completed a a qualification called Diploma of Nursing. This is a two year course made up of at practical and theoretical assessments, which then allows you to be registered with AHPRA.

You can work as an enrolled nurse on an ad-hoc/shift filling and contract assignment basis. Casual work allows you to fill shifts that fit your schedule, and this could be last minute cancellations or block bookings. Contract placements are often full time hour shifts, starting from 4 weeks and going up to three months, in more rural and remote areas of the country.

We have a Learning Management System (LMS) that allows for our nurses to educate and refresh their knowledge and skills so they are ready to work. This is regularly updated to reflect legislation and is role specific, and it will always be free to our candidates.

Casual employment opens you up to a range of perks:

  • Choosing your own schedule
  • Getting paid to explore the country
  • Deciding what your own work/life balance looks like
  • Take advantage of casual loading pay rates
