Assistant in nursing jobs in Toowoomba FAQs

Assistant in nursing responsibilities cover just what their title suggests! They assist the enrolled and registered nurses with delivering the highest quality of care to residents and patients in a variety of medical settings.

This is the first clinical step to take when entering the healthcare industry, and it can lead to other positions such as an enrolled nurse, registered nurse, or into management and leadership roles.

We have taken great care to nurture and develop relationships across Australia in metro and remote homes in each state.

You have the option to work in Queensland in Toowoomba or in:

Pay rates for this role are governed by the Aged Care and Nurses Award. The average assistant in nursing can expect to earn $29 - $71 per hour working casually. This is due to shift time penalties, education, experience and location of work.

You can enjoy bonuses and allowances as part of our contract placements. The recent aged care reforms have implemented changes like the 2023 pay rise for aged care workers with more developments coming.

To work with our consultancy, you would need a minimum of six months paid Australian aged care experience. As a rule of them, this equates to 910 hours. Get in contact with our team who can go through the onboarding process today.

A Certificate III/IV in Ageing Support/Individual Support/Health Services Assistance is needed to qualify as an assistant in nursing. This course is around 5 months long (full time), or can be studied part time. There are many educational institutions that offer this.

Once an assistant in nursing is onboarded with Sanctuary, you can choose to work on a casual/shift filling and/or travel contract basis. Temporary work is usually done ad-hoc or last minute, fulfilling cancellations or sick calls. Contracts range from 4 weeks - 3 months for the most part, in rural and remote areas of the country.
