The average personal care worker can expect to receive casual hourly pay rates of $29 - $71 per hour. The Aged Care and Nurses Award determines what each employee will receive, and the bands consider your education level, experience, job title and work location. You can earn bonuses, as well as receive incentives and allowances for eligible certain contract placements.

Aged care reforms is a big topic of conversation at the moment, and as part of the reform roadmap aged care workers saw a 2023 aged care pay rise with further developments to come.

To be an assistant in nursing in Australia, you would need a relevant clinical qualification. This can be a Certificate III/IV in Ageing Support/Individual Support/Health Services Assistance. This course is around 5 months long (full time) dependent of where you study.

Once qualified as an assistant in nursing, you have the option to work on a temporary/casual or contract basis. These are both short term options, the first being shift filling for cancellations and sick calls, and the second being fixed term placements across the country.

We ensure our nurses are up to date with their clinical knowledge and skills, as well as with legislation of the aged care industry. this is done through our Learning Management System (LMS) platform, which is free of charge. This is regularly updated to reflect new practices.
