Job Description
The position works predominately alongside staff in the care environment, however delivery of group training sessions will also be required.
Responsibilities will include:
- Organise, deliver and evaluate education
- Assess staff practices and provide guidance and support
- Act as a clinical mentor to enrolled and registered nurses
- Participate in meetings, committees and working parties as required
- Provide documentation and feedback regarding education and activities conducted
- Liaise with managers, consumers and staff to identify skill deficits and education needs
- In consultation with the L&D team, and managers to investigate training and promotional opportunities
- Participate in the development of the yearly training calendar
- Monitor and encourage safe practices, especially in infection control, manual handling and fire safety
- Current registration with AHPRA
- Experience in the development, facilitation, and evaluation of education in an aged care environment
- Experience assessing staff skills and knowledge
- Good understanding of Aged Care legislation and new standards
- Working knowledge of ACFI assessments and documentation requirements
- Effective conflict resolution skills
- Good computer literacy
- Demonstrated knowledge of work health and safety
- Certificate IV in Training & Assessment
- Understanding of the Consumer Directed Care model within a residential aged care setting
- Experience in implementing and monitoring infection control practices
- Completion of an approved Infection control course level 8 or above, or a willingness to obtain
- Familiar with the Manad documentation system and MedSig medication software
